About The Position

Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services (LAITS) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to help run a dynamic Video Department that creates online courses, short form documentaries, social media materials, and more, to promote and support the College of Liberal Arts and The University of Texas. Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship. They will work with the Director of Studio Operations to ensure proper staff mentoring and that resources required to complete work in an efficient and creative way are available. They will be responsible for ensuring that projects adhere to budgets and that service center income expectations are met. They will advise on ways to improve the overall production experience and outcomes for both clients and staff.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft 365, AirTable, Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Adobe Premiere and Adobe Media Encoder, Slack, Zoom, and Harvest.
  • Working knowledge of Trello, Basecamp, and Teams.
  • Strong understanding of production standards.
  • Experience as a manager overseeing production crew/staff.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience working in video studios/media production.
  • Advanced experience working with clients to develop video projects from concept to completion.
  • Experience developing and implementing a mentoring and professional development plan for crew/staff.
  • Strong financial acumen and budgeting experience.
  • Experience implementing backup plans for video data.
  • Ability to meticulously handle multiple projects in different stages of the development cycle, simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in RTF or other related field.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

  • Experience working at the University of Texas and interacting with media groups on campus.

  • Strong knowledge of frame.io software.
  • Strong knowledge in graphic and design workflows in Canva and other Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Bridge, and XD.

  • High proficiency with screenwriting via Final Draft, Fade in, and/or other similar screenwriting applications.
  • Experience working live events or broadcasts.
  • Strong visual narrative development skills.
  • High proficiency with post-production editing tools.
  • Experience overseeing post-production editors.
  • Experience with project deck creation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with ensuring visual, tonal, and brand cohesion across different deliverables.
  • Experience working within a service center.
  • Proven ability to problem solve complex tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to manage large teams and complex logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight, client intake, estimates, invoices, and structural and strategic planning for the Producers Cohort and Video group in order to retain current clients and seek out new projects across UT.
  • Present pitches and take meetings with potential clients to showcase LAITS's capabilities.
  • Perform on-the-ground production oversight, including but not limited to Producing film shoots, events, broadcasts, and filling crew positions as needed depending on specific expertise.
  • Provide creative and strategic oversight and leadership for a variety of projects, such as donor videos, highlight reels, advertising spots, PR and documentary style profiles of centers, research labs and faculty, among others.
  • Plan out large-scale projects in this manner spanning weeks, months or years and work with clients and crew to deliver high-quality media on deadline.
  • Supervise and mentor staff to become more highly skilled producers.
  • Build structures for mutual feedback, mentorship, and growth of team, while providing guidance, feedback, and constructive criticism on projects, as well as overall staff aptitude, to improve the quality of the department.
  • Provide assistance, which could include on-site, logistics/client support, or post support, to other LAITS Studio groups during bandwidth constrained times.
  • Act as crew for productions and provide training and oversight to other crew members or junior staff to help meet production needs.
