As NASA’s largest engineering solutions provider working together with NASA at centers across the United States. The VIPER program is seeking a Mechanical Systems Project Engineer to support rover mechanisms, mechanical systems integration, and environmental test activities. This position will directly support mechanisms design validation, integrated system testing, and hardware operations within cleanroom and test environments. This role will support ongoing VIPER hardware integration and test campaigns and is expected to grow into expanded leadership responsibilities supporting rover operations and project execution.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 5- 10 years of related experience. License and certification may be required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Experience supporting mechanical systems and mechanisms in aerospace or equivalent hardware development environments
  • Experience supporting environmental testing and integrated hardware test campaigns
  • Experience with mechanical CAD tools (Creo preferred)
  • Experience supporting cleanroom hardware integration and test operations
  • Strong hands-on mechanical engineering and integration capability
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Support design validation, integration, and test of VIPER rover mechanisms and mechanical subsystems
  • Develop and execute mechanical test plans, procedures, and supporting documentation
  • Support environmental testing including TVAC, vibration, shock, and integrated system testing
  • Support hardware integration and operations within cleanroom environments
  • Design and develop mechanical test setups, fixtures, and support hardware using Creo or equivalent
  • Support troubleshooting, anomaly resolution, and root cause investigations
  • Coordinate with systems engineering, integration, and operations teams to ensure readiness and mission success
