About The Position

This position will be responsible for ensuring optimum performance of the defect sorters, ADRs, X-rays, and similar equipment. This role performs the maintenance of the equipment and assists in training new operators on how to properly operate and maintain the systems. This role partners with both production and maintenance personnel to accomplish the daily hands-on operation sanitation, and maintenance of the equipment. Provides problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities in dealing with equipment performance, maintenance, product quality, training, and equipment reliability.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent required.
  • Lock-out/Tag-out, Forklift, and Sanitation certification are required. If you are not qualified, you will be trained and must meet certification requirements.
  • Must be able to communicate, comprehend, and follow instructions in English (both written and oral).
  • Displays leadership, willingness to learn and coach.
  • In-depth knowledge of electronics, mechanics and computers, required.
  • Possesses basic computer skills needed to perform the role (email, Microsoft Suite, etc.).
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to write accurate information in English.
  • Ability to effectively present or listen to information in one on one and small group situations with all other employees of the organization in English.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
  • Exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.
  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for job actions and procedures.
  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily.
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, humidity, oils, smells and allergens.
  • Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Freezer Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Plant Operation.
  • May have to sample food while evaluating Lamb Weston products.
  • Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support and training to the ADR operators and helps to develop & implement auditing programs to ensure proper operation of the equipment as the in-house expert on operating our ADR, Sorter, X-ray etc. systems
  • Maintains these systems through routine calibration, programming, minor Preventative Maintenance tasks, etc. and assist the mechanics and PC&E personnel in troubleshooting and light maintenance of the system including during down seasons.
  • Interacts with operators, maintenance personnel, sanitation, QA and Plant Leadership to oversee the operation of this equipment and to provide ongoing reporting regarding system performance and needs.
  • Leads Continuous Improvement efforts surrounding these systems as the in-house expert and system owner.
  • Builds and maintains good working relationships with the corporate technicians and become their primary plant contact.
  • Works on other shifts, periodically, weekends &/or downtimes to provide the aforementioned training, audits, maintenance, etc.
