About The Position

The Wellesley College Philosophy Department invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor (VATP) to teach two courses during the 26-27 academic year. The VATP will teach an intermediate-level Philosophy of Mind course in Fall 2026, and a second course in Spring 2027 to be determined in consultation with the Department. Possibilities include Introduction to Metaphysics and Epistemology, Medical Ethics, Environmental Ethics, Philosophy of Language, and Rationality and Action. Depending on the applicant pool, two different VATPs may be hired to each teach one course, so applicants should be sure to specify in their cover letter whether they are applying to teach only one of the needed courses (and which one) or both. In addition to class meeting times, the applicant will hold regular office hours in person and promptly respond to student inquiries throughout the semester.
