As a Visiting Fellow will have an opportunity to contribute to research endeavors that include data maintenance, data analysis, data compilation, and project participation.As a Visiting Fellow, you will collaborate with research faculty, staff, and students. The research project will expose you to various techniques, skills, resources, and mentorships inside the Endocrinology Lab. Dr. Umpierrez's research portfolio is not only extensive but also impactful. His work focuses on understanding the mechanisms for beta-cell dysfunction in minority populations, a crucial area in addressing healthcare disparities. He is also dedicated to the prevention of acute and chronic diabetic complications and the hospital management of patients with diabetes and hyperglycemia. Maintaining HIPAA and confidentiality standards for all research data and enrolled study participants is imperative. Under general supervision, you will have an opportunity to collect, analyze, interpret statistical data, and prepare reports related to research projects. In addition to the science exposure in the lab, you can attend exciting lectures and divisional meetings. You will have mentorship from advanced-level scientists who will support you with technological resources as well as a spotlight on research development. NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
