About The Position

Join a Mission That Matters Torch.AI is building the AI Control Layer for the United States Government. Not another dashboard. The AI Control Layer is foundational data and intelligence infrastructure that makes sense of messy, adversarial, multi-domain data at machine speed. Commanders, analysts, and operators can act with clarity when it matters most. Our platform—ORCUS (data movement), NEXUS (deep semantic vectorization), and HALO (graph-native reasoning)—is accredited, deployed, and operating today across enterprise clouds and tactical edge environments. We support multi-INT fusion, predictive movement analysis, targeting workflows, anomaly detection, and decision support for cross-domain operations including ISR, information advantage, joint effects, and force protection. We are seeking candidates who want to build systems that operate under real constraints: degraded visibility, adversarial mis/disinformation, intermittent connectivity, low-SWaP hardware, and seconds-to-decision timelines. Security Clearance Some roles require an active Secret, Top Secret, or Top Secret/SCI clearance. Where required, candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance level. U.S. citizenship is required for all positions. Torch.AI does not sponsor employment visas. If you do not currently hold a clearance but are eligible, sponsorship may be available depending on role and mission requirements. Work Location Most roles are based at our headquarters in Leawood, KS. Some hybrid/remote positions across the Arlington, VA, Washington, DC, and Maryland (DMV) region are available. Limited travel (<10%) may be required for some roles. Requirements

B.S. Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field.
2+ years of professional design experience in corporate, technical, government, or defense environments.
Strong portfolio demonstrating:
Visual storytelling
Technical diagrams and architecture visualizations
Executive-level presentation design
Infographics and complex information layout
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects) and modern design tools such as Figma.
Experience producing motion graphics or short-form video content.
Strong understanding of typography, color theory, layout systems, and information hierarchy.
Ability to work with technical subject matter experts and translate dense material into accessible visuals.
Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset.

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting DoD/IC customers or operational mission teams.
Familiarity with AI-enabled systems, data platforms, analytics workflows, or enterprise software architectures.
Experience building and maintaining design systems or visual libraries.
Experience supporting proposal graphics and technical capture documentation.
Experience designing within regulated or secure environments.
Familiarity with accessibility standards (Section 508 or WCAG considerations).
Exposure to basic UX/UI principles and cross-functional design collaboration.

Responsibilities

Apply strong graphic design fundamentals with exceptional attention to detail across digital and print mediums.
Distill complex AI, data, and mission concepts into clear, compelling visual narratives.
Visualize enterprise architectures, workflows, system integrations, and technical processes with systems-level clarity.
Design high-impact presentation materials for executive, customer, and mission stakeholders.
Develop infographics, diagrams, explainer visuals, and branded collateral that support technical storytelling.
Contribute to and maintain brand standards, visual identity systems, and reusable design templates.
Support proposal development, technical briefings, and capture efforts with polished visual artifacts.
Produce motion graphics, short-form video, or animated explainers when appropriate.
Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and mission teams to ensure visual accuracy and technical fidelity.
Incorporate feedback from stakeholders while confidently articulating and defending design decisions.
Ensure deliverables meet accessibility and readability standards, especially in high-stakes operational contexts.
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously in secure, compliance-driven environments.
Maintain organized design assets and version control across secure collaboration platforms.
