About The Position

The Vivarium Technician at BioLegend is responsible for the daily care of research animals including feeding, cage washing, maintaining a clean environment and monitoring the overall health of the animals. The Vivarium Technician in addition handles animal requests and maintain breeding colonies. This position is expected to work independently and in a team environment under established safety guidelines and protocols

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Requires good verbal and written communication skills.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.

Nice To Haves

Animal husbandry experience
Some college coursework or associate's degree

Responsibilities

Daily monitoring of animal health and vivarium environmental conditions
Supply appropriate food and water for animals housed in the vivarium
Clean and provide animal housing and associated materials/equipment within assigned animal rooms
Transfers animals from dirty to clean caging providing appropriate feed, water and bedding
Clean cages, accessories, and water bottles via cage washer or by hand
ATP test cages, accessories and other items quantitatively evaluating vivarium cleanliness
Assists with the receipt, stocking of ordered items.
Wean Mice
Properly disposes of waste
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of animal cages, and support spaces of the vivarium, providing a clean odor free and low stress environment for the animals to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare.
Establish and maintain appropriate and quality communication, teamwork, collaboration, and cooperation.
