Vocational Specialist (Qualified Professional) – ACTT 📍 Charlotte, NC 💰 $24 – $26/hour (based on experience) 🕒 Full-Time, 40 hours/week + Benefits Pyramid Healthcare of Charlotte is seeking a Vocational Specialist (Qualified Professional) to join our Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT). About ACTT Our ACTT program provides a “hospital without walls” approach, delivering high-intensity behavioral health services directly in the community to individuals living with serious mental illness, substance use challenges, and other social determinants of health. Each ACTT is a multidisciplinary team offering comprehensive, person-centered care tailored to meet clients’ mental health, substance use, vocational, and housing needs. Position Overview The Vocational Specialist plays a key role in helping clients achieve meaningful employment and greater independence. This position focuses on job readiness, employment placement, and ongoing vocational support, while collaborating with the ACTT team to promote long-term recovery and stability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required
  • Must meet Qualified Professional (QP) status per 10A NCAC 27G.0104
  • 1–3 years of experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently in the community and collaboratively within a team
  • Commitment to ethical practice, boundaries, and professional growth

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Human Services preferred
  • Experience in vocational rehabilitation, supported employment, or workforce development strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients in identifying career goals, strengths, and employment interests.
  • Provide job readiness training including resume building, interview preparation, and workplace skills.
  • Support clients in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment.
  • Develop relationships with local employers and community partners to create job opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to help clients sustain employment.
  • Integrate vocational goals into person-centered treatment plans.
  • Support clients in overcoming barriers to employment such as transportation, legal issues, or skill gaps.
  • Assist with benefits counseling related to employment and income changes.
  • Participate in daily ACTT team meetings and coordinate care with clinical staff.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with CARF, DHHS, and LME standards.
  • Communicate with referral sources, families, and community partners regarding progress.
  • Participate in crisis response and support hospital diversion efforts as needed.
  • Provide transportation and community-based support services.
  • Participate in CQI initiatives, peer reviews, and data tracking (NCTOPPS).
  • Support program outcomes and compliance efforts.
