Requirements

  • Demonstrates strong leadership abilities and fosters a positive, collaborative team environment.
  • Manages time effectively and can balance multiple priorities with ease.
  • Shows solid decision‑making and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to stay organized in a fast‑paced setting.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally in both verbal and written forms.
  • Provides excellent customer service to volunteers, clients, and team members.
  • Uses computers confidently, including Microsoft Office, and can navigate databases or digital systems.
  • Works independently when needed while staying accountable and self‑directed.
  • Collaborates well with others and contributes positively to group efforts.
  • Sets realistic goals, stays focused, and organizes people and resources to achieve results.
  • Brings at least three years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Has a minimum of two years of experience working with or managing volunteers.
  • Holds a valid Michigan driver’s license (or can obtain one) and has access to reliable transportation for travel within the service area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the MOWWM volunteer program, volunteers and staff including hiring, training, coaching, evaluation and progressive discipline.
  • Maintain volunteer handbook and code of conduct
  • Develop annual recruitment, recognition and retention strategies to grow the number of volunteers and hours of service.
  • Oversee and develop the volunteer newsletter
  • Work collaboratively with all MOWWM departments to enhance the volunteer experience.
  • Work collaboratively with all MOWWM departments to strategically support each department with volunteers.
