About The Position

Essential Job Functions: Provides oversight for accurate and efficient accounting operations, internal controls, and financial reporting for the credit union. Ensures the integrity of the credit union’s financial recordkeeping by maintaining precise internal and external documentation and reporting of all financial transactions. Oversee, organize, and guide the accounting tasks of assigned staff, ensuring their work meets quality standards and management expectations. Foster clear communication and efficient processes both within the department and with other internal teams. Carry out leadership responsibilities including hiring, staff development, training, coaching, motivation, and comprehensive performance management. Hold regular staff meetings to update team members on relevant policies and procedures impacting their roles. Meet individually with each employee every month to review their past month's performance, review objectives for the upcoming month, and develop strategies to help them improve. Responsible for the general ledger chart of accounts, accounts payable, fixed assets, investment activity, borrowings, retirement plan accounting, participation loan reporting as well as mortgage servicing rights, tax and regulatory reporting  Supervises, prepares and assists in the timely preparation of financial reporting and analysis for Senior Management, Board of Directors and government agencies. Oversees daily cash management and liquidity monitoring to include borrowings Works closely with CFO on CECL preparation and reporting Assists in the annual budget process as well as subsequent variance monitoring and reporting Functions as a member of the Asset Liability Committee (ALCO), Product & Pricing Committee, and Credit Risk Committee. Responsible for reporting financial data, trends, and related information and making applicable pricing, product recommendations to Board of Directors, ALCO, and Product & Pricing Committee in absence of SVP/CFO. Assist with various profitability analyses and reporting, including assessment of credit union branch network, products and services.  Directs the credit union's investment activities as custodian of funds, securities, and assets of the organization; promotes the company in financial markets to assure sources of capital. Participate in the preparation and evaluation of mergers and capital plans Maintain a documented system of accounting internal control, policies and procedures Reviews procedures in the areas of accounting, purchasing, finance and investments, budget and other financial functions for adherence to internal control concerns and efficiency of operation.  Coordinates with audit staff to review accounting systems and controls and ensures implementation of recommended changes. Coordinate proactive planning for changes in the financial reporting environment  Responds to requests for information and assists credit union divisions, examiners, auditors and members as it relates to accounting policies. Conduct ad hoc projects and assignments as directed by SVP/CFO Promote UNCLE Credit Union's commitment to community volunteerism and active engagement within the industry Performs related duties and responsibilities as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to effectively manage Experience in GAAP accounting, financial management and administration and principles of personnel management.  Experience with automated financial reporting systems, financial modeling, data visualization, internal controls and risk management  Ability to interact effectively with members, staff, senior management and directors. Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with the essential job functions. Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions. Ability to act in an ethical and professional manner consistent with the essential job functions. Education and Experience: Sufficient education, training, and/or work experience to demonstrate possession of the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Minimum 5 years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in Accounting, Business or other closely related field. CPA certificate or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
