About The Position

Backed by leading Silicon Valley investors, Peregrine helps public safety organizations, state and local and governments, federal agencies, and private-sector institutions address society’s challenges with unprecedented speed and accuracy. Our AI-enabled platform turns siloed and disconnected data into operational intelligence — instantly surfacing mission-critical information to empower better, faster decisions that improve outcomes at every touchpoint. Today Peregrine supports hundreds of customers across 30+ states and two countries, serving more than 125 million people — and we’re amplifying our impact as we expand into the enterprise and internationally. The Role Peregrine is hiring a VP of Finance to partner directly with our CEO and leadership team in building a generational company. This person will inherit and lead our existing finance function while building a world-class team, scalable systems, and shepherding the operating rhythms required for our next phase of growth. You’ll own everything from core financials to investor relations, and you won't just help us plan and set rigorous financial controls; you'll also have a seat at the table when it comes to corporate strategy and direction. We believe that the best Finance operators are those who are in the weeds of the business itself — how we deliver, what we build, and why we win — and we are looking for a leader who can embrace both the high-level and nitty-gritty of the job, all while holding a high bar for talent and leadership.

Requirements

  • Professional services foundation + proven company builder — Background in investment banking, private equity, or similar rigorous analytical environments, followed by leadership roles building and scaling finance teams at high-growth technology startups.
  • A history of growing and refining financial and operating models for complex enterprise software and AI motions — A history and penchant for building operating and financial-management systems for complex enterprise motions: diverse end markets, different engagement models, and differing levels of customer maturity.
  • Strategic and hands-on — Comfortable going deep in the weeds when needed, but equally effective partnering with the CEO and leadership team on long-term strategy, capital allocation, and market positioning. Able to walk-and-chew gum at the same time: someone who as just as comfortable in the board room as they are in their own spreadsheet.
  • Exceptional judgment — Knows when precision is mission-critical and when directional 80/20 thinking is appropriate; balances high standards with pragmatism and speed.
  • High standards for talent and culture — A servant leader who sets a high bar, develops and hires world-class teams, and models humility, openness, and ownership.
  • First-principles thinker with a bias toward action — Approaches problems with intellectual honesty and rigor, challenges assumptions constructively, and moves the business forward decisively. A proven ability to think through, model, and forecast business evolutions in a rapidly changing landscape, such as AI, capacity planning, infrastructure and token spend, and so on.
  • Located in San Francisco and willing to work in our office 4x/week.

Responsibilities

  • Own Peregrine’s financial strategy and performance — Drive forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning; ensure we have the financial clarity and discipline to make bold, high-conviction decisions.
  • Lead and scale the finance function — Inherit and develop the existing team while hiring and building world-class capabilities across FP&A, accounting, strategic finance, and other key areas as we grow.
  • Run core operating cadences — Design and own rigorous monthly business reviews, drive predictable billing and collections, run a tight monthly close, and contribute to quarterly and annual planning processes that create alignment, accountability, and transparency across the company.
  • Partner cross-functionally and externally to scale the company — Work closely with leaders across GTM, Product, and Operations to build scalable processes, evaluate investments, and improve decision-making quality.
  • Partner on investor relations and capital strategy — Partner with the CEO when it comes to interfacing with current and prospective investors, as well as the board. Shape our narrative, manage reporting, and advise on capital allocation and fundraising strategy.
  • Help architect long-term value creation — Bring a deep understanding of capital markets, durable value creation, and company building to help position and grow Peregrine as a category-defining, enduring business, touching everything from how we price to how we invest.
