About The Position

The primary objective of this critical role is to lead Supply Chain and Procurement functions within Baxters North America. The role will deliver the S&OP process development, strategic supply chain planning, procurement/strategic sourcing with supplier management and overall supply chain operations within the BNA organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering, Supply Chain or Business Management.
  • 10+ years of experience of consumer-packaged goods manufacture.
  • Can clearly demonstrate Senior leadership experience, driving culture, strategic planning and execution of growth plan in organizations of SME of $300-$500 multi-site role
  • Leadership style in a fast-paced environment, influencing skills from shop floor to C-suite, financial and commercial acumen, awareness of the retail and military commercial market place, supply chain and capacity planning methodologies, data collection systems, inventory management principes, maintenance planning, material management, production scheduling, resource planning, order tracking, knowledge of ERP and supply chain systems, performance metrics, detail oriented, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, work quality, integrity and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Supply Chain structure, processes & the development of systems to establish a new heightened level of efficiency and quality of delivery across all Supply Chain functions.
  • Ensure that the Supply Chain plays an integral leadership role in engaging with customer/sales needs, which are synergistically reflected in effective production plans, inventory builds & purchasing strategies delivering lowest cost and optimized service level
  • Provide robust leadership across the full Supply Chain, including but not limited to: Inventory Management, Purchasing, Customer Service, consolidated Forecasting/Demand Planning.
  • Provide support and leadership on all business-related procurement contracting requirements, including logistics, MRO, consumables, and capex.
  • Provide site-based teams support and governance on Warehousing, Distribution & Logistics requirements in line with S&OP outputs
  • Provide leadership and co-piloting design and implementation of S&OP+ signature process within North America. Represent Supply operational, forward planning and technical inputs into the business S&OP process, specifically for new product introductions, supply response to demand requests within capacity utilization and help to shape activity management lead-times for project execution.
  • Ensure an effective Supply Planning and Procurement management evaluation of the portfolio choices
  • Lead the Procurement function and implement Strategic Sourcing Category management system to drive the supply chain bottom line (prime savings through scale and contract management).
  • Integrate business capital asset additions and acquisitions as needed. Ensure procurement systems clearly highlight variances enabling business recovery via financial execution.
  • Incorporate/develop a “best-in-class” purchasing strategy, with developing robust supplier relationships at its core, along with establishing an “early warning system” to monitor cost reduction opportunities obsolescence and vendor performance
  • Develop the supply chain organization structure and lead development of Supply centralized demand planning, supporting site-based factory scheduling functional processes, including implementation of formalized rate input system for the planning process.
  • Develop the supply chain metrics and dashboards. Set standards for a central planning operating system, taking into account factory metrics and performance as rate inputs into planning systems to ensure excellence in customer service, materials obsolescence and inventory management
  • Work with the IT team to develop needed ERP, tools and planning systems to ensure productivity improvements in the processes to drive efficiency in execution and mfg. overheads.
  • Identify and evaluate financial opportunities and recommend solutions that will drive overall supply chain effectiveness and continuous improvement encompassing any areas of the segment P&L
  • Drive timely implementation of identified opportunities for efficiency improvement, establish priority projects and other initiatives at plants and establish best practices across factories for performance improvement
  • Develop supply chain financial targets, standards and tracking for the network (inventory plans, COGS delivery, cash delivery, logistics costs/tonne)
  • Develop segment KPI roadmaps and maintain supply chain KPI’s in conjunction with Planning, Procurement, Inventory and Logistics managers.
  • Own the Procurement PPV strategy and implement annual cost reduction strategies to deliver across all aspects of materials sourcing. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Primary interface is with Commercial, R&D, Operations, Finance, Legal and other functional area management team members.
  • Work with other Baxter business units and supply chain teams to develop supply chain policies and sourcing practices where applicable.
  • The Procurement and Planning functions are accountable to ensure operations can execute plans and schedules to standard cost, delivering customer service on time in full.
  • Maintain relationships ensure timely communication with exceptional leadership style
  • Develop and coach Supply Chain team members, including coaching direct reports, implementing development plans and training, and fostering a positive culture and continuous improvement.
