About The Position

The Vice President of Planning & Performance Measurement will lead enterprise planning and performance accountability across Froedtert ThedaCare Health. This executive ensures system priorities are translated into coordinated regional and service line plans, supported by a disciplined planning framework that integrates risk, finance, and operations, and measured through clear success metrics. The role also partners closely with the Medical College of Wisconsin to align system and academic planning across the four missions—clinical care, research, education, and community engagement. As a senior leader in the Transformation & Integration Office, the VP directs market and enterprise insights, including forecasting, competitor analysis, and environmental assessments, to inform system priorities. The role oversees the Balanced Scorecard, enterprise and system success measures, and external reporting, delivering transparent performance accountability to the ELT and Board. In partnership with regional presidents, system executives, and service line leaders this leader builds alignment, strengthens governance, and ensures measurable progress toward Destination 2030.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in health care administration, business administration or a related field.
  • Senior leadership experience in large integrated delivery networks or national professional services firms.
  • 10+ years in enterprise planning, performance measurement, business development, or health care management consulting.
  • Deep knowledge of health care operations, planning cycles, risk alignment, and performance frameworks (Balanced Scorecard, KPIs, dashboards).
  • Proven track record of aligning regional and service line plans with enterprise direction and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Experience leading market research, competitor analysis, and environmental scanning to inform strategic decisions.
  • Strong analytic skills with the ability to integrate financial, clinical, market, and community health data.
  • Skilled communicator with credibility at the Board, ELT, and frontline levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders across clinical, operational, corporate, and functional areas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual and multi-year planning cycle through a systemwide framework that integrates priorities, sequencing, interdependencies, and accountability.
  • Integrate risk assessment and connect planning to finance, workforce, and operations for discipline and consistency.
  • Provide governance and oversight for enterprise business planning, including business case development, financial modeling, and feasibility testing.
  • Partner with regional presidents and system executives to connect local market needs with system goals.
  • Partner with the Medical College of Wisconsin Strategy & Planning Office and executive team to align enterprise priorities with academic planning and mission goals.
  • Design and oversee the system’s performance framework, including the Balanced Scorecard, system success measures, and composite indices.
  • Cascade system measures into regional and service line goals, embedding accountability into goal setting and performance reviews.
  • Provide transparent reporting to the ELT and Board on progress against system priorities, milestones, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee external reporting and benchmarking (e.g., AHA, WHA), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and relevance.
  • Lead enterprise strategic intelligence functions—including forecasting, scenario planning, competitor analysis, and predictive modeling—to shape long-term growth strategies and partnerships.
  • Provide timely, actionable insights on industry trends and performance data to inform system decisions at all levels.
  • Support enterprise growth and corporate development initiatives by evaluating opportunities, overseeing consultant engagement, and transitioning approved initiatives to the Integration Office for execution in partnership with Chief Transformation & Integration Officer (CTIO), Chief Growth Officer (CGO), and regional presidents.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic thought partner to the CEO, CTIO, CGO, ELT, regional executives, and service line leaders, providing structured support in planning reviews, performance discussions, and Board reporting.
  • Lead governance forums that support enterprise prioritization, risk management, and performance oversight.
  • Build enterprise planning and measurement capabilities through standardized tools, processes, and leader development.
