As the Vice President of Product Management for Data Center Solutions, you will serve as a technical strategist and subject matter expert (SME), shaping Johnson Controls’ roadmap for mission-critical infrastructure. You will leverage deep knowledge of data center systems from thermal management to fire detection, suppression, and security to anticipate hyper scaler and colocation trends and translate them into actionable strategies. This role requires a unique blend of technical depth and business acumen, influencing R&D priorities and guiding innovation across multiple product lines. You will lead a small, high-impact product management team and work across a global matrix organization, managing through influence rather than direct authority. How you will do it: Strategic & Technical Leadership: define a forward-looking product strategy that addresses hyper scaler and co-lo requirements, including AI-driven workloads, liquid cooling, sustainability, and modular design. Act as the data center SME, providing insight into compute architecture, cooling technologies, and integrated systems. Market & Technology Insight: Stay ahead of industry trends and customer roadmaps to ensure JCI solutions meet future hyperscale and co-lo needs. Identify emerging technologies and partner opportunities to strengthen JCI’s competitive position. Innovation & R&D Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and R&D teams to translate market insights into product development priorities across thermal, fire detection/suppression, and security systems. Drive innovation initiatives that position JCI as a leader in next-generation data center solutions. Influence & Stakeholder Engagement: Operate in a matrixed environment, managing without direct authority and building consensus across engineering, operations, sales, and executive leadership. Engage with key customers and industry forums to validate strategy and strengthen relationships. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a small team of product managers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and strategic thinking. Ensure alignment between product roadmap and business objectives. What we look for: Required Deep technical expertise in data center systems, including thermal management, electrical infrastructure, fire safety, and security. Proven ability to anticipate hyperscaler and co-lo trends and translate them into actionable strategies. 15+ years in product management, engineering, or technical leadership roles, with significant experience in data center or cloud infrastructure. Strong business acumen and ability to influence across a global organization. Exceptional communication and executive presence; comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and customers. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Key Competencies: Ability to influence and partner in a matrix organization. Operate at the intersection of technology and strategy, influencing JCI’s global roadmap. HIRING SALARY RANGE: $194,0000 - $303,000. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
