Our VPD assembler plays a critical role in the manufacturing & assembly of high-precision Variable Power Dividers used in heavy-duty vehicles. This hands-on position requires meticulous attention to detail to assemble, inspect and test complex gear, bearing and housing assembles to ensure they meet strict quality and performance. This is a full-time production role that may involve standing for extended periods, handling hot/cold parts and collaborating with quality and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Extremely high attention to detail and commitment to precision quality control in mechanical assembly.
  • Proficiency in using measurement tools, including various types of micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply measurements accurately while understanding how small variances impact overall performance.
  • Mechanical aptitude for handling assembly techniques.
  • Strong ability to follow written work instructions and document work accurately on quality forms.
  • Patience and methodical approach to avoid errors and repeat tasks for needed accuracy.

Nice To Haves

  • Background or equivalent experience in machining, precision assembly or related files is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-precision quality control inspections on gears & components, using tools like magnifying glasses to detect fitting issues, scoring or damage that could lead to noise, leaks or performance issues.
  • Correct or replace defective gears and components as needed to ensure final assembly quality.
  • Torque fasteners to specified values and conduct rolling torque measurements to verify proper assembly and adjustments.
  • Measure shim packs for precise thickness using micrometers or calipers to adjust rolling torque on cases/housings.
  • Inspect cases/housings for defects such as scoring, improper fitting, or damage that could cause pressure leaks.
  • Install seals, bearings and related parts, including driving seals and pressing barriers into position.
  • Heat bearings to facilitate fitting onto shafts or components and freeze races for insertion into housings.
  • Follow detailed work instructions precisely during assembly and measurement processes
