About The Position

VRL Kids | Summer Intern Role Description Duration This position will average approximately 40 hours per week (Weekend Services, office days, plus special events). The starting date is May 18, 2026 and will end July 23, 2026. Principal Functions Interns are expected to support the ongoing ministry to kids at Valley Real Life by building relationships with kids and volunteers, modeling a Christ-like lifestyle, assisting and leading ministry events that reinforce VRL Kids’ objectives, and becoming actively involved at Valley Real Life. Job Summary VRL Kids exists to reach the world for Jesus, one kid at a time. This internship position exists for the mutual benefit of VRL Kids and the intern. VRL Kids enlists an individual who can offer their own set of skills, knowledge, interests, and passions to support and enhance our kids ministry. The intern receives the opportunity to learn and develop ministry skills in a safe and nurturing environment. Ideally, the intern will be discipled by the VRL Kids Team Staff and develop their gifts and potential in ministry. Payment & Housing The intern will receive a stipend of up to $2500 ($250 per week) to cover basic living expenses. The stipend will be paid once per month during the program. The intern will receive a 1099-MISC at the end of the year for tax purposes and are not considered employees of Valley Real Life. The intern will stay at houses within the VRL family for 2-4 weeks at a time, arranged by the Elementary Pastor.

  • Preferably an individual who senses a call to ministry and desires a place to follow and process that calling.

Responsibilities

  • Be present at the majority of scheduled Kids events (Weekend Services, Kids Camp, All-Church events).
  • Assist with the logistical responsibilities needed to run each program.
  • Contribute to the execution of both weeks of Kids Camp in a leadership role.
  • Spend time leading and learning in each area of VRL Kids oversight (Elementary, Early Childhood, Paid Childcare).
  • Set and work toward personal & spiritual goals with Elementary Pastor.
  • Read at least 1-2 books relating to internship/ministry experience and discuss with the Elementary Pastor.
  • An intern may have a focused area for the internship (ex: teaching, curriculum writing, etc.)
  • The focused area will be determined by the Elementary Pastor and the Intern, based on the needs of the ministry and skills/passions of the intern.
  • Actively participate in the family of Valley Real Life.
  • Develop and nurture relationships within VRL Kids Ministry.
  • Work effectively with VRL ministerial and support staff.
  • Other duties and ministry participation as assigned or desired.
