About The Position

SWVMHI in Marion, VA is recruiting for a Ward Clerk CNA to join its talented and dedicated Nursing Services Team on the Geriatric Unit. Position Hours: 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, Working at Least One Weekend Approximately Every Six Weeks Shift Differentials and Weekend/Holiday Supplements Available Ward Clerk CNAs are experienced with mental health recovery assistance for individuals and assist Nursing with communication and collaboration between caregivers in all services. They provide direct care as Certified Nursing Aides. Additionally, they organize resources and publicize nursing activities on the wards for events such as individual treatments, groups, or visitation. Ward Clerk CNAs provide clerical assistance with managing supplies and resources on the unit. They make appointments for individuals served and manage nursing staff access to and transfer of documents from the unit to Health Information Management Department. Working under supervision of a RN, Ward Clerk CNAs: Provide basic quality patient care under the direction of nursing staff and as part of an interdisciplinary team Perform duties such as feed, bathe, dress, groom, or move patients or change linens May transfer or transport patients Assist with organizing and setting up resources for nursing unit delivery of care, group activities, and managing the flow of individuals off and on the unit Maintain accountability for individuals who live in a locked, safe, secure, and therapeutic environment Create healthy interpersonal interactions with individuals on adult acute Admission, Geriatric, and Extended Rehabilitation Service Units Observe and report feedback regarding interventions, treatments, behaviors, physical and emotional well-being, and safety Document and communicate Serve as an individual care unit receptionist and assistant to nursing by scheduling appointments for individuals, arranging transportation for individuals, data entry, ordering supplies, and other ward support activities Help coordinate information exchange between departments and internal/external customers Collaborate with the Health Information Department in terms of maintaining documents for the health record of individuals

Requirements

  • CNA Certification Required and maintain CNA (Certified Nursing Aide) certification in good standing with the VA State Board of Nursing
  • Basic computer skills needed

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Driver's License preferred.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in a psychiatric, healthcare facility, acute care, long-term care, or correction setting is preferred.
  • Prefer attainment of Level II Direct Support Professional (DSP) Career Pathway
  • Strongly prefer course work in medical terminology and office computer skills
  • Strongly prefer experience working in healthcare or office receptionist using Electronic Health Record (EHR)
