About The Position

DSG is seeking a Second Shift Warehouse Assistant Manager in our La Crosse, WI location. In this full time, salaried position, work typically ranges between the hours of 12pm and 9pm, Monday through Friday, but may vary on occasion according to business needs. As a Warehouse Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the overall operations of the warehouse, with a primary focus on shipping operations and outbound logistics. This includes overseeing the day to day activities of the shipping team, coordinating the routing and loading of company trucks, and ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of outbound orders. This role involves managing a small team (up to 5 employees), ensuring that shipments are prepared accurately, trucks are routed efficiently, and daily deliveries are loaded and dispatched on schedule. The Warehouse Assistant Manager will also collaborate with the Warehouse Manager and Branch Manager to implement improvements, enhance productivity, and maintain high operational standards across the warehouse and shipping departments. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in warehouse operations, preferably with experience in shipping, logistics coordination, or delivery routing, along with additional experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a small team of employees.
  • Safety training on material handling and forklift driving.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis, and up to 100 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to workplace safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with routing software, delivery scheduling, or transportation logistics systems is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the daily operations of the warehouse with a focus on shipping, outbound orders, and delivery preparation to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
  • Coordinates the routing of company delivery trucks, working to build efficient delivery routes and ensure trucks are loaded accurately and ready for dispatch.
  • Directly supervise and provide guidance to up to 5 warehouse employees ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. This includes responsibility for carrying out the performance review process and disciplinary actions.
  • Provide training, coaching, and support to employees to enhance their performance and professional development.
  • Oversee the engagement of direct reports, understanding their work and career aspirations, and facilitating opportunities to upskill and advance.
  • Direct relevant information and communication to direct reports.
  • Participate in hiring process for staff within department, interviewing and recommending applicants for hire.
  • Enforce safety protocols within the warehouse, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees. Promote safety awareness and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operations challenges within the warehouse and shipping areas. Act as a point of contact for any operations issues that may arise and ensure they are addressed promptly.
  • Recommend measures to improve warehouse and shipping efficiencies, working conditions, and overall performance whenever possible.
  • Ensure necessary tools and equipment are available and in good working condition to complete tasks. Report any equipment issues to Branch or Warehouse Manager.
  • Provide courteous, prompt, and efficient service to customers.
  • Lead by example in promoting safety conscious behavior, encouraging others to report safety concerns, and ensuring that all accidents or incidents are documented and reported promptly.
  • Ensure all company procedures and policies are being followed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
