About The Position

As the Warehouse Driver, you will play a meaningful role in ensuring that individuals experiencing homelessness have access to consistent, nourishing meals each day. By transporting prepared meals from the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall to community feeding sites across Salt Lake, you will be a vital link in Basic Needs – Salt Lake's daily service to some of our community's most vulnerable neighbors. In addition to driving responsibilities, you will maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the kitchen warehouse, coolers, and freezer, ensuring that food storage and distribution systems operate efficiently and in compliance with health and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet delivery schedules consistently.
  • Proficiency using GPS and maps to plan and navigate efficient routes.
  • Strong attention to detail in inventory handling, documentation, and delivery accuracy.
  • Knowledge of health department requirements for handling and transporting food commodities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with professionalism and reliability.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those experiencing homelessness or food insecurity.
  • Commitment to treating all individuals with dignity, compassion, and respect.
  • Must pass a national BCI/FBI background check.
  • Must maintain a valid Utah driver's license, be at least 21 years of age, and meet CCS vehicle safety standards.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a valid Food Handler's permit as a condition of continued employment.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a valid UDOT Medical Card as a condition of continued employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in driving, delivery, warehouse operations, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with inventory tracking and warehouse management practices.
  • Forklift certification, or the ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Transport prepared lunch and dinner meals from the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall to designated community feeding sites on a daily basis.
  • Load and unload donated and exchanged food commodities safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of donated items, commodity exchanges, and daily mileage records.
  • Perform daily safety checks on all vehicles used and report any maintenance concerns to the Kitchen Manager promptly.
  • Operate a forklift as needed to support warehouse and loading functions.
  • Keep the kitchen warehouse, coolers, and freezer clean, organized, and stocked in accordance with health department and food safety requirements.
  • Monitor and track warehouse inventory levels, ensuring accurate records and timely communication of supply needs.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, food handling procedures, and organizational policies while driving and handling goods.
  • Interact with staff, volunteers, and community partners at delivery sites in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
