About The Position

The Warehouse & Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient, safe, and sustainable operation of warehouse, aftermarket and transportation functions. This role drives revenue and margin growth while ensuring operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and environmental stewardship. Key responsibilities include warehouse operations, logistics coordination, demand planning, and process improvement. This position directly contributes to the DGR mission of generating funds to help people in our community live, work, and thrive through housing, employment, and supportive services.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of motor vehicle safety practices and DOT regulations.
  • Knowledge of Madison-area streets, traffic patterns, and approved truck routes, with the ability to effectively coordinate and optimize transportation routes.

  • Post-secondary degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field, with a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in logistics, transportation, or warehouse operations; or
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive supervisory experience in logistics, transportation, or warehouse operations in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, using a full range of motion to lift push or pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to maintain a stationary position to be able to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate, identify, analyze and assess details.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment, including baler and forklift.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective handling of donated and commercial goods, supplies, and equipment in accordance with Goodwill policies and budget expectations.
  • Develop and communicate short- and long-term operational strategies to Executive Leadership and Store Management to achieve key performance objectives.
  • Implement operational procedures that support budget targets and strategic initiatives.
  • Negotiate with vendors, suppliers, and partners to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and sustainability outcomes.
  • Monitor aftermarket trends to maximize salvage revenue and identify new revenue opportunities.
  • Oversee warehouse management systems and support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies, analyzing root causes, and implementing process enhancements.
  • Analyze operational and financial reports to ensure accurate tracking of inventory, salvage, transportation, and warehouse performance metrics.
  • Coordinate logistics for internal operations and external partnerships to ensure timely and efficient material flow.
  • Ensure high levels of internal and external customer service with retail locations, donors, recycling partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Train and monitor staff on proper use, safety, maintenance, and documentation of power equipment and agency vehicles.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and organizational policies to maintain a safe working environment. Report accidents and hazards promptly.
  • Monitors warehouse inventory levels, including assessing the need for additional external warehouse space; ensures containers are distributed to stores using FIFO inventory management; and maintains a clean, organized, and safe dock and warehouse environment.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and execution of the organization’s sustainability strategy and related action plans.
  • Conducts research and identifies opportunities to improve sustainability efforts, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, and sustainable procurement.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, customers, and community partners.
