Warehouse Operator - La Tiara - Kansas City
About The Position
As a part of our manufacturing group, you will be responsible for supporting and assisting with warehouse operations by managing shipments, processing orders, tracking inventory, and operating equipment. Shift hours: 8-hour shift (Sunday night through Friday morning) 3rd shift: 10:45 pm to 7:15 am Currently hiring 3rd shift Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 5 days per week with occasional weekend work About our Location: Our General Mills facility in Gladstone, Missouri, is the latest addition to our North America plant network - proudly making La Tiara taco shells. Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- Must possess the ability to understand and effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and others in the workplace regarding work matters (our business is generally conducted in English)
- 1+ years of experience in a warehouse, distribution, or logistics environment
- Basic computer skills, including data entry, email communication, production-related systems and possible use of software (such as Word, Excel)
- Ability to work independently and as a team with flexibility to quickly shift work priorities
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
- Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
- Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required
- Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
- Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
- Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
- Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems preferred
- Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment; willing to obtain a forklift/POV license
- Experience in manufacturing/production environment preferred
Responsibilities
- Manage all inbound and outbound warehouse operations, including gate monitoring, appointment scheduling, dock assignments, paperwork verification, and dispatch
- Ensure timely and accurately preparation and processing of shipping and receiving documents, including Bills of Lading (BOL)
- Maintain inventory records and update warehouse management systems
- Maintain facility security, including monitoring and controlling dock doors
- Collaborate with internal teams and external customers to maintain high service standards
- Safely operate forklifts within production, packaging and warehouse operations
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment
- Conduct quality checks to ensure compliance with company standards
- Accurately complete all required documentation in a timely manner
- Support processing and/or packaging operations as needed
- Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance warehouse efficiency and performance
- Assist the Logistics Lead through the start-up phase of the logistics department, helping establish processes and ways of working
- Assist in onboarding and training new warehouse employees
