About The Position

The City of Tolleson is seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Wastewater Operator I. The primary function of an employee in this class is to learn to perform technical operations, maintenance, and repair of Wastewater Treatment Plants and associated equipment. Incumbents work with certified operators under close supervision. The duties listed below are only intended as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. Specific statements of duties not included does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
  • A valid Arizona driver's license required.
  • ADEQ Operator certifications preferred, and a Grade 1 certification, or ability to obtain a Grade 1 certification within one (1) year from date of hire.
  • This is an entry level operator position and shift selection is based on seniority.
  • This vacancy will be assigned to swing and/or night shifts until day shifts are available.
  • May require working weekends, evenings, nights, Holidays, overtime and emergency call-outs
  • Incumbent will be required to be SCBA certified.

  • Recording data
  • Managing biosolids
  • Reclaim water systems
  • Gas chlorination equipment
  • Auto sampler operation
  • Ensuring all equipment is operating within specified parameters
