BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION: Operates wastewater treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater treatment plant to control flow and processing of wastewater by performing the following duties. Must comply with all Company SAFETY rules (LOCKOUT/TAGOUT, ETC) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) at all times.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training
  • Or equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities and meets local and state statues.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents, such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals, and procedure manuals.
  • Must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in the English language.
  • Must have the ability to work with and around chemicals, effluent or similar solutions using the required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on WWT equipment.
  • Follow all safety practices, such as LOTO, in the operation of electrical and mechanical equipment used in Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors control panels and adjust valves manually or by remote control to regulate flow of wastewater.
  • Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and tests results to determine load requirements.
  • Starts and stop pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of wastewater through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes.
  • Maintains legible, accurate records of shift operations.
  • Cleans equipment and facilities.
  • Unload, stores, and uses various chemicals such as Aluminum Sulfate.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance, inspects, repairs, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment in operation and detects and reports deficiencies in the operational process.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
