About The Position

The Water Quality and Backflow Administrator works under the direct supervision of the Drinking Water Manager and is responsible for overseeing the City's Cross Connection and Water Quality monitoring programs. The Administrator utilizes State, Federal, and local regulations to conduct all applicable drinking water sampling, oversees precautionary water quality monitoring, and ensures compliance with Cross Connection requirements. Frequently interacts with contractors and the general public.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience related to the duties listed above
  • Backflow Program Administrator certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Must have and maintain a valid Class "A" Utah Commercial Driver's License and be deemed insurable and able to operate City-owned equipment and vehicles.

Nice To Haves

  • Grade 4 Water Operator preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the City's backflow inventory.
  • Inspects, tracks, and coordinates efforts relating to Cross Connection requirements.
  • Acts as primary contact in ensuring that work in the City meets Federal, State, and Kaysville City standards.
  • Provide feedback and education to parties, enforce standards, and educate on the needs and importance of such requirements.
  • Conduct water sampling and water-quality monitoring.
  • Collect samples for analysis at laboratories and coordinate with the County Health Department on sample results.
  • Coordinates daily with the Drinking Water Manager to provide status updates and request additional support as needed.
  • Assist with repair, maintenance, construction, and installation work as required for proper and efficient functioning of the storm drain, land drain systems street, water, pressure irrigation, and sewer systems as needed.
  • Operate all City-owned light and heavy equipment and hand tools required in the completion of various public works projects.
  • Expected to be on call during assigned periods (at least bi-annually) in the event of emergency needs or after hours service calls, including (but not limited to): snow plowing, broken water mains, sewer backups, or other malfunctions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
