About The Position

Are you passionate about water stewardship? Do you want to learn how environmental permitting works in Texas? Do you enjoy working with citizen scientists and environmental education? This internship position will equip you with the knowledge and understanding to help catapult your career in the environmental field. As a summer intern in LCRA’s Aquatic Science team, you will assist with water quality permit review and gain valuable understanding of how wastewater permits are issued in Texas. You will also work alongside team members to help with environmental education initiatives involving the Colorado River Watch Network program. This position provides an outstanding opportunity to learn about the Texas Colorado River waterways and the crucial importance they are to the Central Texas region. Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university/college program in senior year or has recently completed senior year (i.e., summer after graduating with a bachelor’s degree).

Nice To Haves

Degree path focused on environmental science, biology, engineering, geography or a related field
Experience working with data
Experience engaging in environmental education

Responsibilities

Assist with entering and organizing water quality permit review information in Sharepoint application.
Work with Colorado River Watch Network program staff members to implement training and programming for citizen scientists.
May assist with field-based studies collecting data on water quality chemistry and/or aquatic species.
May assist with organizing and maintaining scientific equipment used for field-based studies.
