About The Position

Operator III – Water/Wastewater Treatment Job Function / Purpose The Operator III is responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment at medium to large-sized water and/or wastewater treatment facilities.B Water and Wastewater licenses or Double c licenses requiredResponsibilities Operate equipment and machinery such as valves, pumps, motors, belt presses, disinfection systems, and vehicles. Conduct routine testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of production wells and treatment processes. Document plant performance including daily flow and chemical usage, and maintain treatment facility equipment. Respond to after-hours emergencies to repair pumps, motors, instrumentation, and other equipment. Ensure plant security and cleanliness, including grounds maintenance as needed. Train staff on operational procedures, equipment repair, and safety practices. Provide customer service support and communicate with clients on technical aspects of operations. May coordinate maintenance activities at the facility. Other duties as assigned. Willingness to work varied shifts including weekends, holidays, evenings, and on-call 24/7 as needed.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in water/wastewater operations.
Valid Driver’s License (CDL preferred).
Wastewater Operator License required.
Advanced knowledge of water/wastewater operations.
Ability to interpret operational manuals and instructions.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet-based tools.
Clear and professional communication.
Ability to collaborate across teams, maintain composure under pressure, and provide thorough information to colleagues and clients.
Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving complex issues.
Escalates concerns appropriately and shares ideas to enhance quality and productivity.
Capable of working independently and completing projects with minimal supervision.

Must be able to frequently lift 50–60 pounds; move heavy equipment/tools; access confined spaces; walk and climb stairs and ladders regularly.
