About The Position

The News Associate Program is a 24-month high intensity program designed to develop entry-level media professionals. Participants in the program will work in a fast-paced newsroom within one of NBCUniversal’s Local Stations. The program will include a significant investment in training and coaching from some of the industry’s best. The right candidate will learn the skills necessary to develop into a successful reporter, producer or journalist, while experiencing the ultimate thrill of a newsroom. We are looking for a Meteorologist to anchor and produce weather segments across all content platforms, including on-air and the station’s website.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Related Science, Communication Studies or equivalent experience
  • Ability to ad-lib effortlessly while under pressure during weather breaking news and during newscasts
  • Able to work a Flexible Schedule and Shifts including mornings and weekends or as needed for severe weather coverage

Responsibilities

  • Gather and prepare weather information for on-air presentations in the local & regional newscasts and special reports outside of regularly scheduled newscasts.
  • Provide creative ideas to showcase the weather segment in an informative and compelling manner.
  • Employ strategy and engagement in social media and streaming including sending severe weather alerts/warnings.
  • Provide input to newscast producers relating to the weather segments.
  • Will need to be available to report for all severe weather situations.
