Job purpose As our Welder, you will be responsible for cutting and joining metals and other materials at our facilities or construction sites. You will be working with the latest technology and equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision. Duties and responsibilities Read simple blueprints and drawings Perform MIG, TIG, and other types of welds based on project needs Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety Test and inspect welded surfaces to detect flaws Always follow specifications and instructions for maximum efficiency Align components using callipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces Report on damages to machines and equipment Support business needs in current position and other departments as needed Qualifications Proven experience as a welder or schooling Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves, etc.) Attention to detail, time management skills, and a positive attitude High School diploma/GED preferred Professional certification is a plus Working conditions Welders wear protective clothing and goggles for safety. Welders may work in a confined area designed to contain sparks and glare. They occasionally must lift heavy objects and work in awkward positions. Most work full time and overtime is common. Physical requirements Must be able to lift 40-50lbs. Must be able to work in awkward positions to weld or do minor electrical work.
