About The Position

The Welding & Fabrication Specialist is instrumental in the Welding and Fabrication of products and materials as instructed with a focus on internal and external customer satisfaction, productivity, material accuracy, material traceability, and safety. May also be trained in a variety of tasks to benefit the efficiency of the shift.

Requirements

Understanding of SPS & USW policies and procedures
Ability to effectively read and use a tape measure, caliper and micrometer, and other hand tools
Proven experience operating material handling equipment
Good verbal and written communications
Ability to read and interpret instructions
Proven basic math skills

Responsibilities

Day-to-day production, welding and fabrication activities
Follow and enforce company safety polices and safe work practices at all times to ensure safety of self and others
Establish priorities and accepts responsibility for efficiently welding and fabrication of materials
Inspects and verifies all aspects of the material (grade, size, quantity, measurements, etc.) when welding & fabricating. Reports discrepancies or quality issues to Supervisor
Scrutinize customer requirements and special instructions to ensure compliance and customer satisfaction
Follow all audit and material traceability procedures
Inspect and operate all related equipment (forklifts, etc.) in accordance with company and safety guidelines
Conducts self in a cooperative, safe, productive and team-oriented manner with supervisors, managers, and employees
