About The Position

The Driver – Parts Department requires the employee to deliver and pick up parts and equipment for the Parts Department. S/he must represent the dealership in a friendly, professional manor.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Ability to interpret vendor catalogs.
  • Ability to use department computer systems, calculator, motor vehicle, forklift and hang trucks.
  • Ability to use mechanical tools such as crimper, pliers, wrenches, and tape measure.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and retrieve truck parts and heavy components.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver parts, equipment, and supplies to customers and vendors.
  • Pick up parts, equipment, and supplies from customer and vendors, to be coordinated with Parts Manager, Inventory Control Administrator, Parts Counterpeople, Warehouse Supervisor, and/or Shipping and Receiving Clerk before leaving.
  • Ask each customer visited if they have any returns, new or cores. If the customer does have items that need to be returned, receiving slip must be filled out with customer’s name, product returned (part number needs to be noted, if available), quantities, status of the part (new or core), signature of the customer, initialed and dated by the Midway employee picking up the item. Give the customer a copy of the form filled out.
  • Advise dispatch of location before leaving each delivery or pick up location.
  • Complete a log at the time of delivery and request recipient’s signature.
  • Must comply with all company policies and federal, state, and local cell phone laws. This includes hands-free use of cell phone using either a wired or wireless earpiece or a ‘speakerphone’ function. The driver of the vehicle must use a single-button control which does not require reaching, dialing, or holding the actual mobile device in their hand while driving; or, the driver is able to touch the button needed to operate the mobile device from the normal seated position with the safety belt fastened.
  • Complete a daily vehicle inspection, mileage and route log; immediately report any issues to supervisor.
  • Be responsible for the basic upkeep of the truck: check the oil level with each fillup, ensure that the truck is serviced every 3,000 miles; immediately report any issues to supervisor.
  • Unload truck of all parts and contents at the end of each shift. Turn in all paperwork and undelivered parts.
  • Operate forklift.
  • Park truck in designated parking place and secure on premises before leaving for the day.
  • Company vehicles are to be used for company business only. Vehicle is not be used for personal business, lunch breaks, etc. unless approved in advance by the Parts Manager.
  • Must be legally and technically able to operate company owned vehicles.
  • Must be insurable by Midway’s vehicle insurance carrier.
  • Must follow all company safety policies and practices, and immediately report any and all accidents to a Manager or Supervisor.
  • Must file a police report for all accidents involving a company vehicle.
  • Follow all company policies as outlined in the company handbook.
  • Must maintain the professional appearance of the parts department employees.
  • Assist in pulling parts orders, as required.
  • Assist in stocking parts, as required.
  • Assist in shipping parts as required.
  • Assist in housekeeping.
  • Perform such other tasks as assigned.
