The Holmes County General Health District is currently hiring a full-time WIC Intake Clerk . The Intake Clerk would maintain and monitor confidential information, which is the primary function. Candidates will also need basic breastfeeding knowledge and be able to support and encourage Holmes County pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. Compensation is based on experience and education level. Paid time off is based on hours worked. The chosen WIC Support Staff candidate will: Carry out instructions written, oral, or in picture form; deal with problems involving a few variables within a familiar context; add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers; prepare accurate documentation, and communicate effectively. Travel to and gain access to work sites; being able to lift, carry, push or pull objects of 20-50 pounds. Schedule individuals interested in participating in the WIC Program; interviews individuals and collects information in order to determine program eligibility; issues with the WIC Nutrition Card for those determined to be eligible and explain the program rules and regulations per grant requirements. Completes heights/weights/lengths on participants, does screening for lead, iron and immunizations. Maintains client charts to ensure all necessary paperwork is complete; assists clients with the completion of forms; ensures the follow-up of telephone triage notes; completes paperwork needed to comply with grant requirements. Performs various administrative duties that include but are not limited to scheduling appointments, preparing and sending notices of appointments and missed appointments, maintaining referral lists, making phone calls/text to remind clients of appointments, maintaining education materials in each counseling room, etc. Participates in breastfeeding promotion and outreach activities such as attending health fairs, county fairs, etc. Maintains appropriate office supplies using agency policy and procedures. May need to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Maintains required continuing education hours by attending breastfeeding and nutrition trainings as required by the state and local WIC program. Must be accountable for time and travel. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSH safety standards that pertain to essential functions. Other duties as assigned
