Requirements

  • Windows Server administration (AD join, GPO, services, registry)
  • Virtualization layer administration and support (VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V, or others)
  • Patch management tooling and troubleshooting failed updates
  • TLS/PKI on Windows roles (IIS, RDP), certificate lifecycle management
  • Performance monitoring and troubleshooting (perfmon, event logs)
  • PowerShell basics for automation and troubleshooting
  • EDR/AV agent operations and ITSM/CMDB proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and secure Windows servers, VM clusters, and virtual machines; join domains and apply security baselines and GPOs.
  • Monitor OS and VM health (services, logs, performance counters) and troubleshoot common issues.
  • Execute monthly patching cycles; validate post-patch application services; maintain patching evidence.
  • Troubleshoot authentication, GPO application, and group membership issues.
  • Maintain backup agents and perform periodic restore tests; document DR evidence.
  • Track EOL OS and virtualization layer versions; plan and coordinate upgrades or migrations.
  • Validate TLS/certificate bindings for Windows services (IIS, RDP, LDAP) and renew as needed.
  • Investigate performance bottlenecks (CPU, RAM, disk, network) using standard tools.
  • Ensure antivirus/EDR agents are installed, healthy, and reporting; remediate gaps.
  • Maintain accurate server runbooks, diagrams, and CMDB entries.
  • Support application teams with prerequisites, ports, and service dependencies.
  • Implement and tune monitoring thresholds and dashboards to reduce alert noise.
  • Participate in DR tests (site failover, recovery) and document outcomes and actions.
  • Enforce least privilege local admin practices and secure service account usage.
  • Provide weekly operational KPIs (availability, incidents, patch compliance, backup success).
