Universal Logistics Holdings is seeking a highly skilled IT Network Wireless Engineer to design, implement, secure, and support enterprise-wide wired and wireless network infrastructure across corporate offices, warehouses, distribution centers, and trucking terminals. This role is critical in ensuring reliable connectivity for operational technology, fleet systems, warehouse management systems, and corporate users in a fast-paced logistics environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in enterprise wireless deployments, network security, and multi-site WAN environments. This position is fully on site in Warren, MI and will require travel/ on call as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in network engineering
  • Strong experience with enterprise wireless solutions (Cisco, Aruba, Meraki, or similar)
  • Experience with routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, STP, VLANs)
  • Experience supporting multi-site WAN environments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in high-availability environments

Nice To Haves

  • CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, or equivalent certifications
  • Experience in logistics, trucking, or warehouse environments
  • Experience with SD-WAN technologies
  • Knowledge of network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, etc.)
  • Experience supporting cloud networking (Azure/AWS connectivity)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation practices

Responsibilities

  • Network & Wireless Infrastructure Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise-grade wireless networks (Wi-Fi 6/6E preferred) across office and warehouse environments
  • Conduct wireless site surveys and optimize RF performance in large-scale distribution centers
  • Configure and support switches, routers, firewalls, and SD-WAN technologies
  • Manage VLANs, QoS, and traffic segmentation to support business-critical logistics systems
  • Monitor network performance and proactively resolve latency, coverage, and reliability issues
  • Implement network security best practices, including NAC, 802.1X authentication, and firewall policies
  • Support VPN solutions for remote offices and mobile workforce
  • Maintain secure wireless access for internal users, handheld scanners, IoT devices, and guest networks
  • Ensure compliance with company IT policies and industry security standards
  • Provide Tier III escalation support for network-related issues
  • Support warehouse technology including RF scanners, mobile devices, and transportation management systems
  • Create and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and change control procedures
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and network redundancy design
  • Lead wireless expansions for new warehouse launches and terminal openings
  • Evaluate and recommend new networking technologies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, security, and application support
