About The Position

AMPAM is a leading Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) contractor serving large-scale multifamily and commercial projects across California. Job Summary Skilled Wireman is responsible for the safe installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical wiring systems and associated components on commercial, industrial, and/or residential projects. This role requires strong technical ability in electrical systems, adherence to electrical codes, and the capability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings while ensuring work is completed to high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
  • Valid California Electrician’s Certification, Journeyman Wireman card, or equivalent (as required).
  • Minimum of 3–5 years experience as a wireman/electrician in commercial, industrial, or residential work.
  • Demonstrated experience with conduit bending, cable pulling, terminations, and panel work.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of NEC and applicable local codes.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and lift equipment as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Class C California Driver’s License (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Install, connect, test, and maintain electrical wiring, conduits, fixtures, control devices, panelboards, and circuit protection equipment.
  • Route and pull electrical conductors and cables through conduit, walls, ceilings, and raceways.
  • Terminate and connect wires to electrical devices, switchgear, and control panels.
  • Install and configure lighting systems, receptacles, switches, motors, and other electrical components.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions using diagnostic tools (multimeters, testers, etc.).
  • Resolve complex wiring and electrical system issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to reduce system downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC), local electrical codes, and safety standards.
  • Follow OSHA, company safety policies, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain site cleanliness and safe working conditions.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and job specifications to plan and execute work.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed (daily logs, reports).
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, project managers, inspectors, and other trades.
  • Work independently or as part of a multi-discipline crew.
  • Mentor and guide junior technicians or apprentices when needed.
  • Participate in safety meetings and ongoing training.
