About The Position

This role will involve wiring the inside of control cabinets for switchgears. The work involves a combination of mechanical assembly and electrical wiring. You will use a blueprint of the control cabinet frame and internal component layout. In this position, you should be able to follow work instructions for installing all internal components with the use of hand tools. You will also follow point to point wire diagrams and electrical schematic for installing all internal wiring to complete the job. Once the wiring is done, point to point testing skills will be needed to ensure proper wiring. Your work will be assessed for quality prior to moving on to the next task.

Requirements

  • Must have a High school diploma or G.E.D. from an accredited institution
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience in an electronic assembly environment
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Richmond, VA will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

  • Requires ability to lift, lower, push up to 35 lbs at the waist, shoulder or overhead

  • Prior completion of IPC Certification

Responsibilities

  • Works from drawings, engineering specifications, and manufacturing information to complete assembly and wiring of control equipment
  • Determines necessary parts and material, prepares requisition to obtain parts and material from stock.
  • Prepares wire for assembly by cutting, crimping stripping, and attaching terminals
  • Route out, assembles, wires, adjusts, fits, and modifies parts, components, and sub-assemblies to form completed control assembly
  • Checks electrical & mechanical performance of completed assemblies to ensure conformance to Broomfield Plant quality standards and makes necessary adjustments and alignment when required
  • Executes engineering and customer changes and makes repairs as required
  • Reports irregularities or equipment malfunctions to supervisor, or onsite lead
  • Have a basic knowledge of mathematical skills, including fractional knowledge
  • Observes all safety and hygiene rules and regulations
  • Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner
  • Ability to read and interpret point to point assembly prints, mechanical assembly prints and schematics
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, battery operated and compressed air tools & also the use of tape measure and multimeter
