About The Position

We're seeking a motivated Workers Compensation Intern to join our team and assist the Workers Compensation department with administrative and risk management-related tasks. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in workers compensations and risk management. This is a full-time (Monday - Friday) On-Site position that is for Surge Staffing HQ located in Columbus, Ohio.

Requirements

  • At least a Junior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, HR, or a related field.

  • Outstanding organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Responsibilities

  • Assist employees with filling out unemployment claims and workers' compensation paperwork.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of safety administrative procedures to assess effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Investigate safety or loss-related incidents, preparing detailed reports on findings.
  • Undertake special projects as directed by workers' compensation and safety managers.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of safety training programs for all associates.
  • Collaborate with the management team to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Review reported incidents and ensure timely entry, follow-up, and completion of all cases.
  • Take on additional tasks or projects as assigned by management.
  • Assist in processing workers' compensation claims and verifying safety compliance.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections as required.
  • Collaborate with HR on safety training initiatives and programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents and actions taken.
  • Support the implementation of safety policies and procedures.
