About The Position

PolyCon is seeking a remote Workers Compensation Specialist to support our Department of Transportation (DOT)/Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) client. The ideal candidate(s) will have expertise in the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA) and Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP), along with demonstrated experience applying these regulations and procedures to Workers' Compensation Claims. They will be tasked with, in part, applying this knowledge and expertise to return-to-work claims management and are expected to provide comprehensive/expert guidance and direction to both internal and external customers. Duties and responsibilities also include but are not limited to: Regulatory Compliance: Apply expert knowledge of the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA) and related DOL/OWCP regulations and procedures. Ensure full compliance with workers' compensation laws and DOT/FAA policy. Claims Management: Conduct comprehensive reviews of OWCP claims to determine eligibility; medical/wage loss benefits; and return to work options etc. Financial Oversight: Execute cost-containment processes, analyze chargeback reports, and devise effective agency-wide case management procedures. Communication: Lead project assignments and communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences, including injured workers and senior management officials across all DOT modes (communications campaign). Communicate complex regulatory guidance to: injured employees, supervisors, and/or senior leadership, etc. Reporting & Documentation: Prepare formal documents, case files, and project reports to ensure full compliance with workers' compensation laws

Requirements

  • Expertise in and robust knowledge on FECA and OWCP regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or equivalent years of direct federal workers' compensation experience.
  • Prior federal claims examiner experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA).
  • Experience working with OWCP claims.
  • Experience using ECOMP (Employee Compensation Operations Management Portal).
  • Skill in reviewing OWCP claims for medical and wage loss eligibility.
  • Experience facilitating return-to-work case management.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass FAA security screening for positions of Public Trust.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior FAA or DOT experience.
  • Ability to lead projects and advise senior-level officials.
