We are seeking a qualified, dependable, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a full-time Workers' Compensation Specialist in Austin, TX. This position plays a vital role in supporting patients, providers, and external stakeholders by coordinating all aspects of workers’ compensation cases. The role ensures timely and accurate documentation, authorization, scheduling, and communication to facilitate seamless care for patients receiving treatment under workers’ compensation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical office or workers’ compensation environment
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and insurance verification
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field
  • Experience working in pain management, physical therapy, orthopedic, or occupational health settings is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for workers’ compensation patients, employers, adjusters, case managers, and legal representatives.
  • Obtain and verify authorization for all treatment, evaluations, diagnostics, and procedures related to work-related injuries.
  • Coordinate patient care and appointment scheduling in accordance with approved services.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all communications, authorizations, and case activity in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Track treatment plans and upcoming authorization expirations to ensure continuity of care.
  • Submit required documentation and treatment reports to appropriate parties.
  • Assist providers with completion of forms and ensure timely submission to meet regulatory deadlines.
  • Collaborate with billing staff to ensure proper coding and submission of claims for authorized services.
  • Educate patients and staff on workers’ compensation processes and clinic protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
