About The Position

Under the guidance of the Integrated Learning and Produce Operations Program Manager, the Workforce Development Program Trainer is responsible for delivering all hands-on aspects of the Job Skills Training Program (Spark!). This role is an integral part of a project team focused on developing, coordinating, implementing, and sustaining EPFH’s workforce development initiatives. The Spark! program is designed to empower neighbors experiencing food insecurity by addressing root causes through job readiness, skills training, and certifications. We are seeking a dynamic, engaging, and mission-driven trainer with strong facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills who is committed to delivering high-quality services aligned with EPFH’s mission and core values. This trainer will focus on reinforcing classroom learning through hands-on warehouse activities. This role does not have direct reports but provides functional leadership and training oversight for trainees.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience in warehouse, distribution, or operations environments
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) with at least two years of related training experience
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • OSHA safety knowledge and OSHA 10 certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Minimum of 2 years of training experience
  • Experience with continuous improvement and warehouse optimization initiatives
  • Ability to teach diverse adult learners
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with computers, data tracking, and audiovisual equipment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team
  • Passion for working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and alternative educational methods
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration/Management, or a related training field
  • Knowledge of local workforce development and continuing education systems
  • Experience building partnerships across sectors
  • Strong ability to prioritize resources strategically and communicate across diverse communities

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate workforce development training programs and industry-recognized certifications
  • Conduct hands-on learning for MSSC Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) and Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) certifications, to include forklift training and testing
  • Provide context to classroom learning through hands-on activities that promote understanding of real-world applications
  • Ensure training consistency and compliance in accordance with EPFH safety policies and OSHA standards
  • Manage cohorts to ensure participants meet learning objectives and program deliverables
  • Lead Train-the-Trainer initiatives as needed and serve as Subject Matter Expert for training programs to ensure staff working with students know how to provide learning support
  • Continue to develop, implement, and evaluate training plans and curriculum
  • Collaborate with Workforce Development team to refine and update curriculum, and program policies and procedures based on employment trends and ongoing program evaluation
  • Track outcomes, attendance and certifications
  • Cross-train in classroom instruction to serve as a backup as needed
  • Train, onboard, and support new trainees, ensuring understanding of warehouse operations and safety regulations
  • Prepare and deliver daily training materials and evaluate participant progress
  • Assess training effectiveness and identify additional training needs through observation and skills assessments for trainees
  • Foster and facilitate a professional, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Inspire, coach, and mentor trainees to support retention and program completion
  • Mentor trainees through the program as they prepare for employment
  • Support outreach, recruitment, screening, and interview processes
  • Improve Certification pass rates from 50% to 75%
  • Support completion of a minimum of 100 students per year.
  • Collaborate with the Workforce Development team to meet program goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned
