To promote public safety and reduce recidivism by preparing offenders for success through a continuum of services and supervision, in collaboration with state and local partners, from the time the inmate's entry into prison through their transition and reintegration into the community. Develop and maintain relationships with employers and community organizations to develop job opportunities and supported employment for inmates. Market the skill sets of inmates. Coordinate daily activities such as soliciting employer interest and involvement in the employment of inmates, orienting inmates to the services provided, posting job opportunities and tracking placement data. Arranging employment referrals of inmates matching the job skills with applicant qualifications. Develop a formalized process for employers to connect with skilled workers. Assist in the coordination of job/resource fairs at low level correctional sites. Coordinate community employer forums state-wide marketing employment incentives, initiatives and the Virginia Bonding Program.
