About The Position

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The purpose of the role is the promotion, development, registration, and servicing of all registered apprenticeships in assigned region. There are typically seven phases that one would anticipate in the life cycle of apprenticeship: outreach and promotion, program development (with employer, consortium, or sponsor), apprenticeship registration, completion, provisional assessments, quality assessments, and in some cases EEO assessments. The Apprenticeship Consultant (Consultant) is responsible for all phases of the lifecycle for programs in their region. Programs are flexible and designed by employers to meet their needs but must comply with criteria set by state and federal apprenticeship rules and regulations. The consultant along with the employer, assesses existing training needs, project future needs and design training programs to meet those needs. The Consultant will share best practices from existing apprenticeships throughout the state and trends in individual occupations that can update other sections of the state to facilitate program development. The Consultant is responsible for bringing together industry groups for industry-wide development of training that can be used statewide or in local industries or groups. The Consultant oversees multiple projects and programs in various stages of development and is expected to allocate resources to best accomplish divisional goals. Candidate will serve the following counties Iredell, Davie, Davidson, Randolph, Rowan, Cabarrus, Stanly, Montgomery, Moore, Hoke, Scotland, Richmond, Anson, and Union. Position is hybrid eligible.

Requirements

  • Assesses current needs, anticipates future workforce requirement, and collaborates with the employer to design training programs effectively address those needs.
  • Experience in communicating, facilitating and/or negotiating effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience in program evaluation and improvement.
  • Analyze program management issues related to needs and program requirements.
  • Experience in obtaining and verifying information through research and collaboration with program officials.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft applications is required.
  • Time management and follow-up are critical interpersonal skills.
  • Skills in marketing, presentations, and project management.
  • Understanding organizational processes and structure to be able to navigate various organizations.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge and a solid understanding of registered apprenticeship programs
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, industrial education, instructional design or discipline related to the assigned workforce training area from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in designing, providing, and/or coordinating industry-specific training in higher education, business or the public sector; or Associate’s degree in any of those same disciplines from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of experience in designing, providing, and/or coordinating industry-specific training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
