About The Position

The Workforce Readiness Instructor will provide hands-on life and career skill training to youth and adults enrolled in our programming. This position will provide workshops, seminars, and classroom-based instruction to multiple WorkPlace programs, including, but not limited to, CareerHub (Youth), Reentry, Platform to Employment Youth, Apprenticeship, Mortgage Crisis Training, EnvironmentalWorks, YouthBuild, Veterans, MaturityWorks, and others to be determined.

Requirements

  • Ability to design learning experiences that are interactive and respectful of cultural differences.
  • Ability to work effectively and engage with adult learners.
  • Experience developing curriculum based on student needs assessment and course outcomes.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent; or one year of related experience and/or training in basic education programs and/or career-related workplace training.
  • The ability to understand more advanced computer skills and be proficient in the advanced knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in developing strategies to improve access and successful educational outcomes for underrepresented student populations.
  • Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations) and create a learning environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Provide classroom life and career skill learning in the following topics: communication skills, critical thinking, decision-making skills, interpersonal skills, stress management, and other topics as appropriate.
  • Work with the team to develop contextualized curriculum and alternative delivery methods, and create a positive learning environment for participants using diverse teaching methods to support and enhance success.
  • Develop and incorporate a curriculum that responds to the diverse needs of employees and participants, including those with emergent language, math, and/or reading skills.
  • Assess and analyze program outcomes for the purpose of program improvement and enhanced student learning.
  • Assess, monitor, and document participant performance and advise participants on ways to improve.
  • Conduct pre-assessments in accordance with program and state/federal assessment policies/procedures.
  • Participates with partnering agencies, project team members, and employers to identify academic and occupational skills needed for entrance into employment opportunities in growing industries.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining a curriculum encompassing the areas of the world of work, soft skills, and workplace conduct.
  • Prepares and presents both individualized and group instruction as required.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
