About The Position

The Construction Foreman – Fence Installation is a hands-on working leader responsible for leading fencing crews on MDOT and commercial projects. This role works directly alongside the crew while providing daily leadership, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining productivity, and delivering high-quality installations on schedule. The Foreman is accountable for crew performance, jobsite safety, workmanship, and accurate daily reporting.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform physically demanding labor
  • Ability to perform manual labor as required in an outdoor environment in the heat, sun, cold, and rain.
  • This position can require working nights, weekends, and out-of-town to work on projects that could be a week(s) at a time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, climb, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, view, and create written documents.
  • The employee uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb ladders or uneven terrain.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, such as operating and repairing vibrating machinery, using wrenches, hand tools, etc., and operating motorized equipment and vehicles.
  • The employee must lift or push/pull objects up to 90 lbs. without assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in fence installation or related construction trade
  • Strong working knowledge of fencing systems, materials, and installation methods
  • Ability to read plans, follow specifications, and meet project schedules
  • 2+ years prior experience leading crews in a foreman or lead role preferred
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • CDL A preferred but not required
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and accountability
  • Critical thinking skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead, direct, and supervise fencing crews on assigned projects
  • Work hands-on alongside the crew performing fencing installation and related labor
  • Ensure job sites are safe, organized, and compliant with company and OSHA safety standards
  • Enforce safety procedures, conduct daily safety talks, and lead by example
  • Coordinate daily tasks, job sequencing, and crew assignments
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, project managers, and team members
  • Maintain productivity, quality, and efficiency on job sites
  • Train, mentor, and develop crew members; address performance issues as needed
  • Ensure proper use and care of tools, equipment, and materials
  • Responsible for all onsite daily reporting, including, but not limited to, job documentation and reporting as required
