About The Position

Plans, implements, and assesses student learning experiences in high school World Languages. Primary teaching responsibilities are expected to include Spanish courses based upon student enrollment needs, with the potential to develop and teach American Sign Language (ASL) courses. The teacher fosters students’ language proficiency, cultural awareness, and communication skills while preparing them for college, career, and civic readiness. The position supports the district’s commitment to providing expanded language opportunities and engaging students in meaningful global and cultural learning experiences.

Requirements

  • Valid Ohio Department of Education and Workforce teaching licensure in World Language (Spanish) for grades 9–12 or the ability to obtain.
  • Candidates with American Sign Language (ASL) coursework, proficiency, or certification are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, ASL, World Languages, Linguistics, Deaf Studies, Education, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish and/or American Sign Language appropriate for classroom instruction.
  • Strong understanding of second language acquisition and best instructional practices for language learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to use instructional technology to support language learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to teach both a world language and ASL is preferred
