About The Position

The XR/CT Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures including standard radiographs (X-rays) and computed tomography (CT) scans to support accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and compliance with radiation safety standards and regulatory requirements. The technologist collaborates with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide timely and effective imaging services.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program (Associate or Bachelor’s degree) or equivalent education.
  • Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R).
  • Advanced certification in Computed Tomography (CT) through ARRT or eligibility to obtain within a defined period after hire.
  • State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist / CT Technologist as required by Wyoming regulations.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Strong technical ability to operate and troubleshoot radiographic and CT imaging equipment.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and cross-sectional anatomy required for CT imaging.
  • Ability to evaluate diagnostic images for quality and completeness.
  • Strong patient care and communication skills to explain procedures and ensure patient comfort.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Physical ability to assist patients with positioning and mobility needs.
  • Proficiency using electronic medical records (EMR) and imaging systems such as PACS.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 1–3 years of experience in diagnostic radiology including CT imaging.
  • Experience working in a hospital, outpatient imaging center, or clinic environment preferred.
  • Experience administering contrast agents and performing CT imaging protocols preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate diagnostic imaging equipment including X-ray machines and CT scanners to perform ordered examinations.
  • Prepare and properly position patients for imaging procedures following physician orders and established imaging protocols.
  • Explain imaging procedures to patients and provide reassurance to ensure patient comfort and cooperation.
  • Administer contrast agents when required for CT procedures in accordance with physician orders and clinical protocols.
  • Monitor patients during imaging procedures for safety, comfort, or adverse reactions to contrast agents.
  • Follow radiation safety practices and protocols to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self.
  • Perform quality control checks, equipment calibration, and routine maintenance of imaging equipment.
  • Review diagnostic images for quality assurance before submission to radiologists for interpretation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including imaging logs, contrast administration records, and electronic medical record entries.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and clinic staff to coordinate imaging studies and ensure efficient workflow.
  • Assist with patient scheduling and coordination of imaging services when necessary.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain professional competency in radiologic and CT technology.
  • Assist in mentoring or orienting new imaging staff or supporting cross-training initiatives when applicable.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
