About The Position

Yard Spotter Driver Sofidel America is a global leader in the manufacturing of tissue paper products, committed to operational excellence, sustainability, innovation, and product safety. As one of the largest tissue manufacturers in the world, we partner with major retailers and customers across North America. We are seeking a dependable and safety focused Yard Spotter Driver to move trailers between buildings and dock areas within our facility to support production, warehouse, and shipping operations. This role safely transfers trailers containing raw materials and finished goods while working closely with warehouse, production, and logistics teams to maintain efficient material flow and safe yard operations. A CDL is not required as all trailer movements occur on company property.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • CDL not required as all trailer movements occur on company property.
  • Previous experience operating yard trucks, spotter trucks, forklifts, or similar equipment preferred.
  • Participate in safety meetings, operational briefings, and training sessions as required.
  • Experience in manufacturing, warehouse, shipping, or logistics environments preferred.
  • Ability to safely maneuver trailers in tight spaces and dock areas.
  • Strong attention to safety and operational procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with warehouse and operations teams.
  • Ability to operate equipment in outdoor conditions and adverse weather.

Responsibilities

  • Move trailers containing raw materials and finished goods between buildings, dock doors, and designated yard locations.
  • Safely position trailers for loading and unloading at warehouse and production docks.
  • Perform basic safety inspections of trailers and yard equipment prior to movement.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, shipping, and production personnel to ensure timely trailer movement.
  • Monitor yard traffic and trailer movement within the facility to maintain safe and efficient operations.
  • Connect and disconnect tractors and trailers safely when positioning trailers for loading, unloading, or staging.
  • Safely back trailers into dock doors and staging areas, including tight spaces with adjacent trailers.
  • Follow all facility traffic patterns, safety protocols, and operational procedures while operating yard equipment.
  • Maintain trailer movement logs and communicate with transportation or gatehouse personnel regarding trailer locations and status.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or operational delays to supervisors.
  • Support overall yard operations and assist logistics teams as needed.
  • Assist operations as needed to maintain workflow and support production schedules.
  • Report vehicle defects, safety incidents, traffic violations, or equipment damage immediately according to company procedures.
