About The Position

Basic Function HF Sinclair is seeking a Yield Specialist with a primary work location in Tulsa, OK and additional location options including Anacortes, WA; Artesia, NM; Casper, WY; Cheyenne, WY; Dallas, TX; El Dorado, KS; Sinclair, WY; and Woods Cross, UT. The Specialist is responsible for maintaining the refinery Sigmafine mass balance, which generates production data from purchases, sales and inventory changes, as well as the mass balances for the refinery process units. This role involves completing tasks with general supervision and serving as a resource and lead position for less experienced staff. This position will place a primary emphasis on activities related to the Tulsa Refinery. Job Duties Analyzes and maintains accurate daily refinery yields to assist in optimizing refinery performance. Perform facility mass balance using tank inventory, feedstock purchases and product sales. Review and adjust process unit rates based on facility balance. Performs inventory, rack, terminal, and pipeline balances. Tracks crude oil and natural gas consumption and production of finished products. Ensures timely completion of yield accounting duties. Prepares and ensures the accurate completion of EIA reporting. Performs and maintains calculations to support balances. Prepare support documentation and response to Internal and External Auditors. Collaborate with Accounting for reconciliation with SAP. Leads and completes special projects as required. Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with multiple disciplines. Other duties may include some or all the following: Assist junior associates with routine tasks. Provide reports, data extracts, and other analyses as necessary. Assess and implement changes to the Sigmafine model as needed. Perform special assignments or tasks as directed by their supervisor, at their discretion. Provide support for Solomon Study. Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Requirements

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant job experience is required, or a combination of work experience and education.
  • Candidates must possess a comprehensive understanding of refinery processes, mass balances, and fundamental chemical calculations and conversions.
  • Applicants must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Industrial Engineering or a degree in Physical Science, Statistics, Economics, Accounting, or Finance.
  • Candidates for this role should have strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving, particularly in production efficiency, where detailed calculations support important decisions.
  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices in yield optimization and economic analysis is necessary.
  • The ability to perform detailed accounting analysis and proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, including macros and lookup functions.
  • A comprehensive understanding of accounting practices and procedures is also needed but can be acquired.
  • Candidates must be able to manage projects and assignments with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Depending on location, the position may require managing and analyzing detailed inventory movements across multiple sites.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and competence in intermediate mathematical calculations are essential, along with maintaining documentation for work products.
