About The Position
Are you a fitness enthusiast with a passion for helping others achieve their wellness goals? Join our YMCA wellness center team and CHANGE LIVES, INCLUDING YOURS. As a Fitness Associate, you'll play an important part in our strength and cardio equipment area, the Life Center, where you will help members on their fitness journey. Kevin Kerr, our Fitness Associate said, "After teaching 35 years, I enjoy working at the Y because I can stay active and get out of the house. The staff are friendly and always willing to help you feel like you belong. The members are upbeat because they are there to do something that they want to be doing. Being able to work part time is nice, as is getting to work the hours that I was looking to work." In this role, you can look forward to: Making Personal Connections: Create a warm and inviting atmosphere by greeting members by name with a genuine smile. Orientations: Schedule and conduct Life Center orientation appointments for members, ensuring they feel confident and comfortable using our equipment and facility. Providing Member Support: Be the go-to person for member inquiries. Anticipate their needs, guide them to suitable equipment and programs. Equipment Expertise: Maintain in-depth knowledge of how to operate fitness equipment in the Life Center and answer member questions about equipment use. Cleanliness and Safety: Keep our facility welcoming by performing light cleaning duties, including handling 45-pound weight plates, restocking towels and wipes, and promptly reporting any equipment or facility issues. Problem Solver: Take a proactive role in resolving member issues by enforcing rules and guidelines, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. Part Time Shifts Available: Monday-Friday: 3:00 pm-7:00 pm 7:00 pm-11:00 pm Saturday: 6:00 am-7:00 pm Sunday: 9:00 am-7:00 pm You'll enjoy a fun, flexible, rewarding work environment and FREE YMCA Membership!
Requirements
- Displays the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
- Must possess adequate knowledge of strength and cardio equipment including proper use, benefits, cautions and maintenance.
- The ability to work independently as well as display excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills required.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of and experience with fitness programs preferred.
- Previous customer service or related experience preferred.
