Youth Camp Counselor (part-time)
About The Position
We are looking for part-time, Youth Camp Counselors to join our team! This role will lead, support, engage, and motivate youth in our activity programs in Batavia, OH. Schedule: Monday- Friday - 7:45 am - 12:45 pm or 12:45pm - 5 pm, 25 hours per week, Summer camp runs: May 18th- August 16th, Additional opportunities to assist with other camps throughout the year! Responsible for leading, supporting, engaging, and motivating youth in activity programs. Will assist in developing youth programs and leading and mentoring program participants.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Robust ability to actively lead and engage youth.
- Strong verbal communication skills with both children and adults.
- Active listing skills and ability to relate to and provide fun, engaging, safe activities for youth of different backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions with limited supervision.
- Ability to be a positive role model for program participants.
- Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED certification (obtained in person or blended)from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute required prior to start date.
Responsibilities
- Enthusiastically lead and support participants through program activities.
- Monitor participants to ensure compliance with rules, prevent accidents, and identify inappropriate behaviors.
- Proactively address and deescalate inappropriate behavior.
- Provide corrective direction to help participants learn appropriate actions and to make positive behavioral choices.
- Work with program coordinator and program staff to plan and coordinate activities.
- Maintain, clean and ensure proper use of facilities and equipment.
- Supervise children ranging from ages [insert age range if applicable].
- Clean up after the children every shift.
- Play games and other activities with the children.
- Make sure the children are checked in and out by parents.
- Nurture sharing, sportsmanship and other social skills.
- Escort the children to the playground and ball fields.
