About The Position

The Employment Skills Specialist shall provide employment skills (Primarily Hancock County) training and mentoring: assisting clients with programs, activities, and routines to assist and retain employment. The employee will develop a working relationship with employers for the purpose of providing job training and employment opportunities for assigned clients. Follow-up with employers and clients will occur in order to encourage and support both the employer and the client. This employee will ensure compliance with safe work practices and maintain safe environments in compliance with established agency standards, licensing regulations, and generally accepted practices. Requirements

  • Ability to maintain clear personal and professional boundaries
  • Exhibits strong leadership potential
  • Ability to work effectively in a constantly changing, sometimes demanding, or chaotic environment.
  • Ability to communicate well orally and in written form and follow detailed instructions.
  • Computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance as required by law

Responsibilities

  • Accepts referrals, determines eligibility, and assesses job skills and aptitude.
  • Assist clients in locating employment.
  • Establish and maintain a resource base of employers accepting clients for employment and job training.
  • Maintain a working relationship with employers and clients to facilitate successful placements.
  • Teach employment skills.
  • Facilitate job search.
  • Develop a job plan designed to provide support to referrals for up to 180 days.
  • Provide or arrange transportation if required.
  • Develop monthly progress reports.
  • Maintain caseload records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
